The next information kiosks committee meeting is Thursday, 12-10-2009, at the Deer Park Senior Center. Discussion will include planning for the information map with the Community information resource committee, the Chamber of Commerce and early planning for the next information kiosk for the community.
The City of Deer Park WA contractor, Tom Johnson, has poured concrete for the piers and the first layer of the pilot project kiosk.
Bear Country Carving owner, Shawn Turney, with the help of Bob Schlein, Horizons volunteer, project manager Seth Nelson, and Josiah Jurgens, owner of Custom Log Furniture have finished the log joints for the log information kiosk. Boy Scout Troop 28 will finish the logs by peeling and sanding at the LDS Center at Riverside. Tom Clark, P.E., volunteered his consulting expertise. The metal fixtures for the base caps of the four vertical logs will be provided by Floyd's Welding of Clayton WA supplied with scavenged metal parts by Eagle Scout candidate, Seth Nelson. Finafrock Excavating, Inc. will assist with the final construction.
Evergreen Truss of Deer Park WA is donating the roof and trusses.
Seth Nelson, project manager, Eagle Scout candidate from Boy Scout Troop 28, assisted by the Horizons III Deer Park Information Kiosks Committee, will coordinate with his Boy Scout Troop, his church and the City of Deer Park for the final construction phase.
